Garage door remote, keypad, and vehicle sync solutions
Modern garage door openers rely on encrypted rolling code frequencies (like Security+ 2.0 or Intellicode) to keep your home safe from signal sniffing. However, power surges, dead batteries, cleared memory chips, or mismatched frequencies can cause your remotes and vehicles to lose their connection to the opener.
We supply, program, and troubleshoot all types of remote access equipment on-site:
- In-Vehicle HomeLink & Car2U Sync: Pairing built-in rearview mirror or visor buttons in Ford, Chevy, Toyota, Honda, BMW, Mercedes, Tesla, and other vehicles to older or newer opener motors.
- Wireless Keypads: Mounting and programming exterior keyless entry keypads for easy, PIN-protected access without a physical key or remote.
- Multi-Button Universal Remotes: Programming single or multi-button visor remotes to control multiple garage doors or gates from one unit.
- Smart Smartphone Hubs & MyQ: Setting up Wi-Fi smart control modules and phone apps for remote open/close notifications and monitoring.
- Legacy Dip-Switch Systems: Servicing older 9-switch or 12-switch fixed-frequency receivers and gate operators.
Common remote & keypad problems we fix
If your garage door works fine when pushing the wall button inside the garage but ignores your handheld remote, the issue usually boils down to a few common causes:
1. Antenna Signal Interference: Modern LED light bulbs installed inside opener sockets can emit RF interference that jams remote radio signals, preventing the motor from picking up the command unless you are standing directly next to it.
2. Opener Logic Board Memory Full: Garage door openers have a limited memory capacity for stored remotes and keypads. If full, the learn button won't accept new signals until memory is cleared and all working remotes are re-learned.
3. Missing Compatibility Bridge: Newer vehicles with updated HomeLink software often require a repeater or bridge module to communicate with older opener frequencies, and vice versa.
Remote programming FAQ
Why won't my car's HomeLink button program to my garage door opener?
Most modern openers manufactured after 2011 use yellow "Learn" buttons with encrypted Security+ 2.0 rolling codes. Many vehicles require pressing the motor's Learn button within 30 seconds of holding down the car's HomeLink button, while older cars may require a plug-in HomeLink Compatibility Bridge to translate the signal.
How do I clear old remotes after moving into a new home?
Locate the colored Learn button on the back or side of your opener motor. Press and hold the Learn button for approximately 6 seconds until the indicator light goes out. This completely erases all remotes and keypads from memory, allowing you to re-program only the remotes currently in your possession.
Why does my garage door remote only work when I'm right next to the door?
Short range is usually caused by a weak remote battery, a dangling antenna wire that was cut or bent inside the housing, or radio frequency interference from nearby non-shielded LED light bulbs or security cameras.
